# Strovio

> Strovio is file storage for developers and their AI agents. Upload a file over a REST API, a TypeScript SDK or an MCP server and get back a permanent public URL or a one-hour signed URL. People manage the same files in a web dashboard with folders, search, trash and share links.

## Instructions for agents

- Access: a person signs up at https://strovio.xyz/signup (14-day free trial, no card) and creates an API key at https://strovio.xyz/developer. Keys start with sk_live_ and are shown once. Do not sign up, sign in or upgrade for the person without their explicit go-ahead.
- Auth: send Authorization: Bearer $STROVIO_API_KEY. Read the key from the STROVIO_API_KEY environment variable. Never print, commit or upload it.
- API base: https://strovio.xyz/api/v1. OpenAPI: https://strovio.xyz/openapi.json.
- MCP server (local stdio): npx -y strovio-mcp, with STROVIO_API_KEY in its env. SDK: npm install strovio-sdk. Both packages may not be published to npm yet, so check first. Check each is published and get the latest version with npm view strovio-mcp version and npm view strovio-sdk version; if npm returns 404, the package is not published yet, so use the REST API, which covers every file operation.
- There is no hosted remote MCP server, no CLI, and no sandbox or test mode. To try safely: GET https://strovio.xyz/api/health needs no key; with a key, listing and getting files change nothing; put test uploads under agent-test/, keep them private, and delete them afterwards.
- Never: delete files you did not create or were not asked to delete (deletes are permanent); make a file public unless asked (public URLs do not expire); overwrite a path without checking it first when the content matters (an upload to an existing path with the same access replaces it). Every key has full access, including delete. Test files count towards the account's storage.
- Errors are JSON with error, code and doc_url. Read doc_url before acting. Retry 5xx with backoff; fix the request for 4xx.
